Pregnancy Signs

Exciting signs to look out for when you're ttc!  But don't drive yourself crazy looking for them, we all know how easy it is to do that, hehe.
These are some of the most common earliest signs of pregnancy, which will usually be noticed during the first few weeks of pregnancy - but you may not have all of them.
  • Implantation bleeding and/or slight cramping - this happens when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine lining, and it may cause a little bit of light bleeding or spotting, and/or slight cramping similar to period cramps.  Not everybody gets this, but if you do, it'll be the very first sign of pregnancy!  Implantation usually happens on average about 6-12 dpo
  • High BBT - when you're pregnant, your bbt remains high past the date on which AF should have been due.  If you're not pregnant, your temp will drop +- the day before or day of AF.  So if you're charting your bbt, this may be the very first sign you'll notice!
  • Missed period - well this one is obvious.  Either you'll completely miss your period, or you'll have a period that's a little different, eg it may be lighter and/or shorter than usual, or it may come a few days earlier or a little later than usual.
  • Boob changes - there are a few ways in which your boobs may change once you're pregnant:
    • they may be sore or tender
    • your nipples may be sore or sensitive
    • the aereolas and/or nipples may darken in colour
    • your boobs may feel lumpy
    • your boobs may become enlarged or feel heavier
    • the little bumps on your areolas may become more or bigger
  • Increased cervical fluid - due to hormonal changes, you may notice more cervical fluid; some women only have a little and others may have a lot
  • Nauseousness/vomiting - aka morning sickness, but I don't call it that since it can not only happen in the morning, but at any time of day or even the whole day or most of the day and/or night.
  • Frequent wee'ing - this is caused by the pregnancy hormone and increased supply of blood which may irritate the bladder and so you'll feel the need to pass even small amounts of wee more often.  Increased blood flow also means more fluids to be processed by your kidneys, so your bladder will fill up quicker.
  • Fatigue - this is due to your body putting in some extra work to support the developing baby, so if you've got a confirmed pregnancy and you're feeling extra tired, go take a nap 'cause you need it!
  • Constipation and/or gassiness and/or heartburn - the surge of hormones may cause your digestive tract to slow down which could lead to constipation & gassiness early in pregnancy
  • Sense of smell - you could get a heightened sense of smell, or you could develop an aversion to aromas and smells that you liked or had no problem with before.
  • Cravings / change in taste - the rising hormone levels may affect your taste which means you may no longer like foods you liked before.  You could also have food cravings, even for things you never really at much of before.  There may also be a metallic taste in your mouth.
  • Acne - due to hormonal changes as well, you could get this, but it should settle down and go away when your hormones stabilized.
And just to make the whole 2WW more exciting . . . some of the pregnancy signs are the same as your usual PMS, eg sore boobs / nipples, slight crampiness etc.  Isn't it fun when you don't know whether you're having PMS or are pregnant?!  Well the universe seems to think so. :P
