Cute Mobile

I saw this cute mobile at a really good price at Reggies online!  Some of them are ridiculously pricy, but this one is only R129 . . . . So I'll be hunting this one down and hopefully I find it in stock. :)

It's perfect for my bug theme and sooooo cute.  :D  It's even musical, but if it's an annoying tune we'll just have to forget that it has that feature. :P

24 Weeks 3 Days & We Got the Pram

We had our first appointment last week with the Dr who will be delivering Aidan. :D  He delivered my sis-in-law's baby in Jun this year so I thought I'd give him a try too and so far he's nice. :)  Here's a scan he did:

That's his arm and hand there. :D  It was also really cute 'cause we could make out his nose and mouth too - I should have told him to capture that one!  Oh well.....maybe next time.  We could also see his spine this time and yet another confirmation that he's a boy, hehe.  Everything else is fine too says the doc.  He's been in breech for the last couple of scans but it seems that's normal this early in pregnancy and sometimes they only move into the right position within the last 2 weeks or so - not that this matters much to me since I'm planning a C-section anyway!

He said we could see a dark spot where the bladder is which means the kidneys are working and we could see a dark spot where the stomach is which means he can swallow. :)

Our next app is for beginning Oct and then we have to register the delivery and book a bed at the hospital.  I'm choosing to have a C-section so I'm beginning to get nervous. :O  Also hospitals make me nervous. :S  So I already can't wait for all that to be over and to be back home again.  Hopefully their food is good...you think one can request double serving of dessert with the meals?? :)

And we found a pram we like and Weed (aka me dad, hehe - he's been Weed since decades ago, dunno where the name came from) offered to pay for half of it, so we got a really cool pram for half price. :D

It's got brakes, shocks, a mosquito net and even a rain "jacket" to cover the whole pram.  Oh, and little tables for me and Aidan's snacks. :D  And the hippo is what my sis got for Aidan - it's seriously the cutest hippo on earth.  :)

Babymoov Bebedelice Food Processor

I think I've found a food steamer / blender and bottle and food warmer-in-one!

This will replace THIS (going for R1 700) and something like THIS (going for about R200), but the Babymoov one only costs R900! 
This goodie heats milk bottles and small jars of baby food, it cooks and blends fresh food, it defrosts food and it says it sterilizes bottles too (and electric sterilizers themselves are usually priced from about R600 upwards)!  Wow - for this price I have to wonder though whether it's good quality . . . hmmm . . . but I've found some good reviews online and so far everyone seems really happy with it.

I think I'm gonna get one!  Before they run out of stock or something . . . ya never know!

Update - 5 minutes later . . . ok, it's ordered! Hehe.

Sleigh Cot / Bed / Bench

Nevermind the campcot anymore, I think we've decided to go with a sleigh cot instead - it's about twice the price if not more depending on where you get it, BUT it can be converted into a little bed when the cot is no longer necessary (or you can turn it into a cute couch), so we think it will be more value for money in the long run.  It'll also fit into my nursery decor idea better - the white one (campcots come in all weird colours and I haven't yet found "the perfect" one) :

You can adjust the base of course - there are 3 levels, and later you just remove one or both of the side things with the bars and you have a little bed (or couch):

 

Something like that.  I think it can work!

Baby Monitor

I'm not sure if we really need a baby monitor, but just in case, I think I've found one for a reasonable price (R520) and all of the 4 reviews so far are good. :)

And it seems to work with batteries or power cables.

Baby Bottle & Food Jar Warmer

I found another cute goodie that I HAVE to have! :D  And it's much better and cheaper than the Yoomi milk warmer that I talked about here - at least so it seems.  Not only is it electric so it doesn't become depleted and throw-away-material after 100 uses, but it can also be used to warm up little jars of baby food.

It takes about 3-4 minutes to warm up a bottle of milk (whereas the Yoomi takes about 1 minute) . . . but at least this one is electric and it lasts forever!

And it also seems quite small and compact, so it's easy enough to take with you when visiting or going on holiday.  And one reviewer said that Tommee Tippee bottles fit in there too, which is good, because I think I'm gonna use those.

Into my next shopping basket it goes . . .  :D

Dresser Drawers

I wanna get one of these for baby's room, and double it up as a changing station (must just find one that's deep/wide enough to accommodate baby's changing mat).

We have one of these in our bedroom so I first thought, in the spirit of saving some money, that we'd use that one for baby and try and squish our clothes in somewhere else in our cupboards, hehe.  But these aren't expensive so we'll just get baby their own one.
Plus this will still be suitable for baby's room no matter how old baby is - it'll always be useful.

Man, I wanna start shopping!!!! But will wait a little while longer first.  :)

Stroller with Car Seat

I think I've found a stroller that I want. :D  Plus it's convenient 'cause it's situated somewhere where we go often enough, so we can just go collect it instead of spending more money on postage fees.  I hope they have in stock by the time we want to buy it!

Stroller features: one hand fold (dunno how that works but it sounds convenient!), multi-position back rest, child and parent tray (so that I can also have place to put my snacks, haha), 5 point safety harness & shopping basket which I suppose could be handy for storing stuff.  And an included car seat.

Cute Cute Cute Baby Dress

How cute is THIS????!!!!  And it's suitable from birth to one year (well, this size anyway).  And it's even got a CUTE little baggie (for the pacifier I assume).  Sooooo cute!!! :D  At R285 (or R120 on special, but not sure for how long!) I'm not sure whether I'll be "permitted" to buy this one, haha.  But I'm gonna try!  :)

Something cute for baby . . . but mainly for mum's amusement and to add some extra cute-factor to the nursery. :)

Mosquito Dome

Hehe, this is cute, and I think perfect for if you're out with baby visiting friends on a warm mosquito-filled summer night.  Or if you're into pic-nicks, this would be perfect too!  We probably won't end up getting one ('cause let's face it, it ain't a necessity!), but it'd be a fun goodie to have, just in case it may be needed . . . :)

If you're gonna be out with baby relaxing somewhere often, I think it would be worth it.  It's suitable to about 12 months of age.  This would keep them out of trouble as well, since they can't sneak off anywhere if you just want to do something else and take attention off of baby for a few seconds (I'm not sure when babies actually begin crawling around?!).

Tummy Time Mat

This is just a cute little goodie used to give baby some tummy time (tummy time discussed HERE).  Of course you can improvise for a fraction of the cost, but if you have some money that you can't find a better use for, why not get it?! :)

You can make your own by rolling up some blankies to put under baby to prop them up, and placing some toys and things within their reach to play with.  I think I'll be creative and do the improvisation thing - this cute little goodie is just another thing to lay around the house anyway (or so say us who can find other things to rather spend money on, hehe).

Swing & Rocker

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it operates with batteries and it has 2 speed settings and 5 (most likely very annoying) songs for baby to listen to.  And it's suitable up to about 30 months of age.  The seat is detachable so you can carry baby around the house in it without the frame thingy.  And it has a restraint belt for baby's safety.

It just looks like a fun gadget to have!  But for R1500 (batteries excl!) there's a good chance this goodie is gonna remain in my dreams list.  *sniff*

Pregnancy Pillow

Do these look comfy or WHAT?!

You get so many different types of pregnancy pillows, but most of them allow for some support under your belly (you seem to rest your belly partly on the pillow), and they give some cushioning between your legs, making bed-time more comfortable.

Some of them can also be used to nurse baby while you're lying down - depending on the shape of the pillow you have.  You get comfy with the pillow as in the pic above, then lay baby on the pillow in front of you and then s/he can easily suckle (or be fed by bottle), and everybody is relaxed and comfy. 

And some pillows have support for your back as well, like this one:

It also helps to keep you from rolling over onto your back for long periods of time during the night.

Funny pillows, they are, hehe . . . and it's going onto my wishlist!  Let's hope Noob Dad-to-be can appreciate the REAL NEED for one of these.  :D

Baby Food Steamer & Blender

A steamer & blender in one!  I want to give baby freshly steamed and blended food as opposed to those little ready-made jars of food, and this goodie will make that job a whole lot easier and quicker...now I don't have to use a separate steamer AND blender (I can do without the extra dishes to wash ya know)!

You steam the veggies, then flip the jug over and blend.  This is actually gonna be fun to use, hehe.

It goes for almost R1 800 though, but this is SO in my wishlist already, I think it's a must-have.  :D

Baby Stuff I Bought

I was shopping for stuff for my sis-in-law just before Xmas, and while I was at it, I got some stuff for me too....'cause they were on special!!  How could I miss such good specials...?!

Called a pacifier pod - a little tiny "handbag" to store a pacifier in! How cute!  Of course afterwards I thought that my mum-in-law could actually just have made us one of these for a fraction of the price, she is a seamstress afterall...but oh well, what's done is done, hehe. :D

Anti-colic bottles...sounds like a good idea and they had good reviews, so I thought let me try.  They were priced from about R100 each down to R13 each - I woulda been a dodo to pass up on this discount.

A rubber-y non-scratch bottle cleaner.  It only cost R15.

Manual milking device...Normal price - somewhere over R400.  I got it for R200 and it had good reviews too!   So...had no choice BUT to get it, obviously.

And to end it off with a nice surprise...turns out they had a special going on that had something to do with buying a Simplisse product (see previous pic, HA) - you get this bottle drying rack for free!  Cooool.  It's worth nearly R300.

And that's as far as our baby shopping has gone.  No more until we get a bfp!!  Oh, wait, I'm lying...I've bought a few boxes of Lego building bricks already too...but that's sort of for me too, I love building houses with Lego! :)  Oh yes, nearly forgot...I bought a memory game too - but I reallllly like playing that game too, so...hehe.

These beds are so much cuter and more fun than plain old wooden cots...which are about double the price and more - no THANK you.

Cool Portable Food Prep Goodie

How cool is this goodie?

It's like a garlic mincer, except there's a bowl to keep the food inside the food squisher goodie, so you use it as a feeding bowl too. And it' small enough, so easy to travel with.  I definitely wanna get me one of these.  I intend to feed baby as much fresh food as I can as opposed to that bottled baby food, so I think this goodie will come in handy.  And if you use it while travelling, you can mush the food as you need it, so it's always freshly prepared!  Coooooool. :D

Baby Changing Bag

I think the thing that I'm most impatient about at this point is the shopping!

..........What?!?!........ I'm a girl afterall, I can't be held responsible for my shopping cravings.

I don't want to go overboard with baby-stuff shopping yet, so I'm filling up my online wishlist cart. :)

Here's a baby changing bag that I like.  I love bags...especially cute handbags with lots of compartments for storing things.  And baby is a perfect excuse to add another cute compartmentalized bag to my handbag collection. :D  But seriously, who can say NO to this bag set....
